What Is DevEx?
DevEx, short for Developer Exchange, is the program Roblox runs that lets you turn earned Robux into real money. It's the only official way to cash out, there's no other route that gets Robux converted to actual dollars in your bank account.
Not every Robux counts though. Only Robux you earned from your own games, passes, or UGC items qualifies. Robux you bought yourself doesn't count toward a DevEx cash-out, no matter how much of it you're sitting on.
How the DevEx Rate Works
Roblox pays a fixed number of cents for every Robux you cash out, and that rate isn't the same one players pay when buying Robux. Buying and selling are two separate price points entirely. Right now the standard rate sits at $0.0038 per Robux. There's also a higher rate for US creators over 18, which comes out to $0.0054 per Robux, and a handful of older balances still convert at an older $0.0035 rate. Pick whichever one applies to you using the buttons above and the numbers update right away.
Who Can Actually Cash Out
Roblox has a few requirements before DevEx unlocks for your account. You need at least 30,000 Robux sitting in your earned balance, not purchased Robux. Your account needs a verified email address. And you have to be 13 or older to request a payout at all.
A Real Example
Say a month of game passes and UGC sales nets you 1,000,000 Robux after tax. Run that through the standard $0.0038 rate and you land at roughly $3,800. Switch to the 18+ US rate instead and the same million Robux turns into about $5,400. That's a meaningful jump, so it's worth checking which rate actually applies to your account before you plan around a number.
| Robux | Standard ($0.0038) | US 18+ ($0.0054) |
|---|---|---|
| 30,000 | $114.00 | $162.00 |
| 100,000 | $380.00 | $540.00 |
| 500,000 | $1,900.00 | $2,700.00 |
| 1,000,000 | $3,800.00 | $5,400.00 |
DevEx vs Buying Robux
It catches a lot of people off guard the first time they see it: the price to buy Robux and the price to cash it back out aren't close to each other. A player spends roughly a cent per Robux buying it through the app. Cashing that same Robux back out through DevEx pays a fraction of a cent. The difference covers Roblox's platform costs and payment processing, and it's the same setup pretty much every in-game currency with a cash-out option uses.
